New-home termite protection in Sydney
Termite protection specified for your build stage, installed in coordination with your builder, and documented for the people who need the paperwork.
Quoted on plans · warranty documentation provided
Uncle Bugs provides pre-construction and post-construction termite protection for new homes and additions across all of Sydney. Because scope, stage and specification vary by site and by build, the work is quoted on your plans rather than at a flat rate.
Pre-construction termite protection
Pre-construction protection is installed during the build, before the stage it applies to is closed over. That timing is the whole point: once the slab is poured or the perimeter is backfilled and landscaped, the opportunity to install that element is gone.
Because it is a staged installation, it has to be coordinated with your builder's program. We will agree with you and your builder what needs to occur, at which stage, and who is responsible for preparing the area beforehand. If the stage is delayed or brought forward, tell us so the installation is not missed.
If you are early in the process and still finalising the build, involve us before the relevant stage rather than after. It is straightforward to plan the specification against your plans; it is considerably harder to add protection to a stage that has already been completed.
Post-construction protection and additions
Post-construction work covers situations where protection was not installed during the build, where an existing element has been disturbed, or where a new addition, deck, retaining wall or landscaping change has altered the perimeter.
New work around a house is a common reason to review termite protection. Soil raised against the slab edge, garden beds built up against the wall, sleepers, retained areas and new paving can all change how water and termites move around the structure.
Tell us what has changed and when. The appropriate response depends on the construction type, the stage the property is at, and what is already in place — which is why we discuss the specification rather than quoting a standard figure from a price list.
Documentation for your builder and certifier
Termite protection generates paperwork, and it is usually needed by someone other than the homeowner — a builder, a certifier, a purchaser's inspector or a future buyer. Missing documentation is a problem that tends to surface at the worst possible moment, often during a sale.
We provide warranty documentation for the work carried out. Tell us at the quoting stage who needs what, and in what format, so the right documents are produced at the time of the work rather than requested later.
Keep the documentation with your build records. If you sell, or if a later inspection raises questions about what protection exists, that paperwork is the record of what was installed and when.
Why this is quoted on your plans
There is no single price for new-home termite protection, because the work is defined by the build. The construction method — slab on ground, suspended floor, brick veneer, double brick, structural steel — the size and perimeter length, the stage the work is being installed at, and the specification selected for the site all change what is involved.
To quote, send the site address, the plans or drawings you have, the current build stage, and the detail of who is coordinating the build. If a certifier or builder has specified a particular requirement, include that too so the quote responds to it directly.
We then confirm the proposed scope, the installation stage and the price before any work is scheduled. If something in the plans is unclear, we will ask rather than assume.
After handover: ongoing management
Termite protection is not a fit-and-forget item. A barrier or system installed at construction is one part of managing termite risk on a property, and it sits alongside the things that change over time — landscaping, drainage, soil levels, additions, and how the property is maintained.
A newly completed home is often at a stage where the garden is still being established. Be careful about building soil up above the slab edge, placing sleepers or retaining against the wall, and letting irrigation run against the structure. These are the kinds of changes that undermine otherwise sound protection.
If you want to know what protection exists on your property, or what condition it is in, that is a separate question from installing it — an inspection records findings at the time of the visit and cannot reveal every concealed area or guarantee a property is termite-free. Ask us to explain what can and cannot be determined for your construction type.
What to send with your enquiry
Send the site address, your plans or drawings, the current build stage, and the contact details of whoever is coordinating the build — builder, project manager or certifier. If the work is part of a contract, tell us what the contract requires so we quote against it.
For post-construction work, describe what has changed: new landscaping, an addition, a deck, or an area where protection may have been disturbed. Photos of the relevant perimeter help us respond accurately.
Termite protection scope, specification and installation stage are confirmed for your build before work is scheduled. Send your plans and build stage for a quote, and tell us who needs the documentation.
